Twenty years after the first detainees arrived at Guantánamo Bay, 39 people remain imprisoned without the hope of a fair trial. Now the longest-serving POWs in U.S. history, these individuals have been denied American justice and their basic human rights. In the eyes of our government, they are "guilty until proven innocent." For 20 years, the military prison at Guantanamo Bay has been a stain on American Values. To make this point in a way that couldn’t be missed, we printed a huge stain on the Constitution. A stain that was shaped like GITMO. A stain that left a stain on anyone who touched it.
The ad ran as a full back-page in Politico, Tuesday, January 11th, the 20th anniversary of Guantanamo Bay.
